So, I discovered how to change my quote banner to a picture and a link at my TPT store. I will be adding a video of how to do that this week. Putting some effort in the design of my store and site!!! I made two images and decided to go with the second one to promote my new product.

Close Reading is a central focus of the Common Core State Standards(CCSS). It requires students to get truly involved with the text they are reading. The purpose is to teach them to notice features and language used by the author. Students will be required to think thoroughly and methodically about the details in a text. I have been working on creating leveled Close Reading passages to help support my kiddos in developing Close Reading strategies. These passages are aligned to the Common Core and have 5 passages per standard. There are three pages of Common Core aligned graphic organizers and text-dependent questions for each passage, which provides excellent opportunities for "digging deeper" into the text. I have been working on developing the Comprehensive Literacy Model during my language block. I have created a few lessons using my favorite mentor texts and author Chris Van Allsburg. Some of my favorites are The stranger, Two Bad Ants, The Widow's Broom, and The Sweetest Fig, I started with the Common Core Standard 4.RL.1 & 5.RL.1, Sudents need to be able tor refer to details and examples in a text when explaining what the text says explicitly and when drawing inferences from the text.
